The incident occurred in Cluster 81 on the last Saturday, February 24, 2024, resulting in nine people injurie and causing the fire to break out and spread to eight shelters. Among them nine Rohingya refugees, including children and women, were seriously injured.
A refugee said that “the injured Rohingya, including children and women, were admitted to hospitals on Banchan Char, but there are no sufficient treatment for the victims”.
A woman explained that the incident occurred because a refugee was releasing remaining gas from a cylinder that needed refilling, during this process, someone was cooking in the kitchen, and the gas reached the cooking stove, causing the cylinder.
