Dozens of Rohingya were killed and many more injured in a drone attack involving the Myanmar military and the Arakan Army (AA) in Horitthulla Rohingya village, Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, Myanmar, on June 9th at around 10:45 a.m.
Two Rohingya families residing in Horitthulla Rohingya village were among the fatalities and casualties of the drone attack. The deceased have been identified as Nur Nahar, daughter of Abdul Kadair, 55, Mohammad Juhar, son of Hasan Ahmed, 50, Dil Bahar, wife of Mohammad Juhar, and their three children: Noju, Safa, and Kayad Nur. All victims were from the same family connected to Nur Nahar.
Another family was also targeted, but details about them remain unavailable due to internet restrictions.
A source reported, “AA’s members entered Horitthulla village around 10 a.m. on June 9th. The Myanmar military was alerted and attacked the AA members with drones, resulting in fatalities and injuries among two Rohingya families.”
Similarly, on June 6th, 2024, AA attacked Rohingya villagers with drones in Horithulla Rohingya village in Maungdaw Township, resulting in three Rohingya casualties.
AA is deliberately positioning itself in Rohingya villages, making them targets in the crossfire between AA and the Myanmar military in Arakan State.
