The Myanmar military arbitrarily arrested hundreds of Rohingya from Buthidaung High School No. 1, Kta Jet Pya, and other villages in Buthidaung Township on May 5th.
A source stated, ‘The Myanmar military approached Basic Education High School No. 1 in Buthidaung with more than six trucks and arbitrarily arrested hundreds of Rohingyas from the school. They were loaded onto trucks and taken towards the military battalions.’
He added, ‘Those Rohingyas who were arbitrarily arrested by the Myanmar Military are residents of Kya Jet Pya, DaPyu Chaung, Rwan Yun Taung, Sin Daung, and other villages. They sought refuge at Basic Education High School No. 01 in Buthidaung Township.’
Another source mentioned, ‘It is believed that the Rohingyas who were arbitrarily arrested by the Myanmar military will be forcibly conscripted and used as human shields in their battles.’
‘A bridge in Buthidaung downtown collapsed due to bombardments by the Myanmar military on May 6th, intentionally done to stop the entrance of the AA towards Buthidaung downtown,’ said a resident.
A Rohingya woman, a resident of Ward No. 02 in Buthidaung downtown, was seriously injured amidst the fight between AA and the Myanmar military on May 6th, 2024. She is receiving treatment at Buthidaung Hospital.
