A Rohingya refugee from Camp No. 11 in Balukhali, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, tragically lost his life in a landslide on July 3, 2024.
The landslide, caused by continuous and heavy rainfall, struck early in the morning around 3:40 AM. The victim, Anuwar Islam, son of Dil Mohammed, was buried under the mud and did not survive the incident.
The monsoon season has put the Rohingya refugees in precarious conditions, with frequent landslides posing significant dangers. Many refugees have been relocated to learning centers and other safe places within the camp to mitigate these risks.
