In mid-June 2024, four Rohingya from Zin Paing Yar village and Kyaw Hle Kha village in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, Myanmar, were forcibly abducted by the Arakan Army (AA).
The AA captured Battalion 10, located in Zin Paing Yar, two months ago after intense fighting. Since then, the AA has been positioned there, confiscating Rohingya properties and intimidating the local population.
The AA confiscated cattle from Zin Paing Yar and Kyaw Hle Kha villages, which are now kept in Battalion 10. When the cattle owners approached to retrieve their livestock, they were brutally beaten and detained by the AA. The abducted owners were taken to Battalion 6, located in Pyin Pyu, where they are currently being held.
The abducted individuals are:
- Mohammad Rahed, son of Rahamat Ulah
- Mohammad Juhar and Rezuwan from Zin Paing Yar village
- Zamal Hussain, son of Soyed Ahmed from Kyaw Hle Kha village
A resident of Maungdaw reported that the families of the victims are unaware of their whereabouts and have been unable to contact them despite their best efforts. The families are urgently requesting the release of their loved ones.
The AA continues to confiscate Rohingya belongings and abduct the owners if they attempt to reclaim their property in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, Myanmar.
