Reports confirm that on the evening of March 22, 2024, the Arakan Army infiltrated Ye Dwin Pyin, a Rohingya village in Maungdaw Township, and abducted three Rohingya residents.
According to a source, the Arakan Army arrived heavily armed, indiscriminately fired weapons, and threatened the villagers of Ye Dwin Pyin. The three abducted Rohingyas were identified as the watchmen of shrimp ponds in the village.
“The Arakan Army abducted three Rohingya residents of Ye Dwin Pyin village on the evening of March 22, 2024, while they were guarding the shrimp ponds,” stated the source.
The abducted Rohingya individuals are Kamal, son of Husson, Mohammad Siraj, son of Ibrahim, and his son.A resident disclosed that the abducted youths were taken to Zee Pin Chaung, where the Arakan Army maintains a camp.
Additionally, two more Rohingya residents sustained severe injuries during the Arakan Army’s entry into the village, as they fired upon the villagers without provocation.
“The injured residents of Ye Dwin Pyin Rohingya village are currently in serious condition and receiving medical treatment,” stated the source.
The incident underscores the ongoing security concerns and precarious situation faced by Rohingya communities in the region.
