Maungdaw, Arakan: Burmese military tortured and extorted a huge amount from a Rohingya man struggling with daily livelihood in a village at northern Maungdaw on 11th June 2019, reports a villager.
At around 5:30 pm a Rohingya named Islam S/O Eman Hussain, 38 went to search his cow in a hill at Salifarag village.
Later in his search he was caught by a group of 100 military and he was abducted by them.

Then with this group of 100 military he had to walk around villages the whole night.
In this journey he was also beaten inhumanely as he did not help them to target any Rohingya for thier usual arbitrary arrest.
The next morning his family had to pay 400,0000 kyats to the same group of military and the victim could not identify the battalion or rank no. of the military.
Money extortion has been one of the rooted genocidal tools in Arakan (Rakhine) since decades and till today Rohingya are paying the price of living on their own ancestral land.
