Minbya β Tensions and disputes are rising between Rohingyas and Rakhines in Minbya over two lost cows belonging to the latter and the former is falsely accused of stealing them, according to Rohingya Today.
Two cows belonging to U Kyaw Mya Than, son of San Tha Hla from Nagara Pauktaw Village, Pan Myaung sub-township, Minbya have been missing since January 29. The owner falsely accused Fayazul Islam, 35, Nur Salam of stealing the cows and abducted him by the help of three AA members and three other Rakhine villagers on January 30, the source mentioned.
The next day, some AA members in collaboration with around 30 Rakhines entered Lat Ma hamlet of Shwe Tama Village Tract and abducted Mohammad Tayub, 40, son of Nur Islam.
Though the cows were found in Rakhine village reportedly, the Rakhines spread a rumour that the two Rohingya abductees were beheaded.
In return, three Rakhines were held hostage by the opponents.
When the administrator of Shwe Tama village and other community leaders came to demand the three Rakhines, they were released on condition of releasing the two Rohingya abductees who are yet to be released.
When tensions are rising between the two groups, about 200 soldiers are deployed in the village and Muslims are still waiting their fellow men to be released.
