Rohingya properties in the neighboring villages of Maungdaw downtown in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, Myanmar, are being looted by the Arakan Army (AA) and local Hindus.
Some Hindus, collaborating with the AA, are looting valuable items such as gold, money, livestock (cows, goats, hens), rice bags, and household appliances from Rohingya villages around Maungdaw downtown.
Many Rohingya villagers from Pan Taw Pyin, Nyaung Chaung, Thi Hu Hla Kyen, Paung Zar, Lapaw Zar, Myo Oo Ward, Gunah, Basupa, Latha Auk Rwa, and Latha hamlets in Latha Ward have evacuated to Maungdaw downtown due to drone attacks by the AA since last week.
The Rohingya villagers fled to Maungdaw downtown as the AA fired heavy weapons at their villages and attacked with drones. The Myanmar military also used heavy weapons and jets in retaliation. Many Rohingyas were killed and injured during the mutual attacks involving heavy weapons by the AA and the Myanmar military.
Rohingya belongings in the aforementioned villages are being stolen and looted by the AA and local Hindus, including gold, money, livestock, rice bags, household appliances, and other valuable items.
A resident of Myo Oo Ward reported that there is no ongoing conflict between the AA and the Myanmar military in Pan Taw Pyin and Nyaung Chaung villages in southern Maungdaw Township. The villages were peaceful without any fighting. However, the AA is looting valuable items during the day and attacking with drones at night.
Sources confirm that Rohingya residents of Zula Fara, Zin Thu Hla, Italia, Horithulla hamlets in Myo Oo Ward, and Gunah, Basupa, Latha Auk Rwa hamlets in Latha Ward were forcibly displaced by the AA. The AA has positioned itself in these villages after displacing the Rohingyas. The AA, in collaboration with local Hindus, is looting and stealing from Rohingya villages.
Rohingyas are in a dire situation, with their properties being looted by the AA after being forcibly displaced. They are trapped in the conflict between the AA and the Myanmar military in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, Myanmar.
