Arakan Army (AA) has reportedly issued an ultimatum to Rohingya villagers in Buthidaung Township, Arakan State, Myanmar, ordering them to leave their village within this week under threats and intimidation.
On January 29, the armed group, Arakan Army (AA) forcefully ordered Rohingya residents of Paley Taung village to vacate their homes immediately.
A source reported,β Arakan Army (AA) militants, dressed in official uniforms and carrying weapons, entered the village, and with the village elders , and threatened them to leave within this week β.
The Arakan Army (AA) also warned ,β Anyone who refuses to leave the village will be shot and killed , and their body will be burned β.
A villager emphasized saying that β Arakan Army (AA) is forcing us out of our village without any reason. We have no choice but to comply , yet we have nowhere to seek refuge as we are not allowed to take shelter in other villages β.
The villager recounted that β only 12 families remain in the village, as most of th other residents fled to Bangladesh during the previous crackdowns by the genocidal military junta in 2017 and these remaining villagers are now forced to leave the village by the Arakan Army (AA) β.
