Rohingya residents in downtown Maungdaw are experiencing severe starvation and lack of medical supplies due to movement restrictions imposed by the Arakan Army (AA) and the Myanmar military.
For a prolonged period, Maungdaw has been encircled by the AA, leaving the Rohingya inhabitants with no access to food or water as their stored supplies have been exhausted.
According to sources, most Rohingya in Ka Yin Taung village have been starving for the past four days, having run out of their stored rice and provisions.
The roads leading out of Maungdaw are blocked by the AA, preventing residents from obtaining food or medical assistance. The dire situation has led to widespread hunger, with many children facing imminent death due to starvation.
If the encirclement continues for another month, the Rohingya residents of Maungdaw downtown may die one by one, as they are unable to replenish their food supplies due to the movement restrictions.
