Buthidaung: Moghs (Rakhine) rebels were seen in planting anti-personnel landmine in a Masjid (Mosque) area of a village in Buthidaung township yesterday (28th April 2019), reports a village.
At around 11:00 pm a group of Mogh rebels were seen in the masjid area while they were attempting to plant anti-personnel landmines in Sinthay Pyin village of Sango
The culprits were seen red-handed by the residing Rohingya and they tried to follow the criminals. Unfortunately, as soon as they saw the light they ran in fear and disappeared in the darkness.
“They did this heinous attempt to kill the innocent Rohingya who will come to pray in the Masjid,” said a Rohingya villager from the area, who asked not to be named.
According to local villagers, the rebels even broke the door lock of the Masjid and tried to vandalize the sacred place as usual.

On the same day in Sin Khone Dine village of Rathedaung, two Rohingya families were threatened and tortured by Rakhine rebels.
Initially, rebels came to abduct Abul Kamal S/O Abdu Shukkur and Sayedul Amin but when they were not at home, their families were tortured and harassed instead.
Since the beginning of this year, few remaining suffering Rohingya have been further scapegoated in the ongoing fight between Burmese military and Arakan Army.
