Sources report that the Arakan Army (AA) has held several meetings with Rohingyas in various villages in southern Buthidaung Township, Arakan State, Myanmar.

On October 31, AA members issued intimidating orders to residents in the villages of Syin Daung, Hoir Mura Fara, Mash Fara, Kiya Zink Fara, and Shil Gada in southern Buthidaung Township.

“The villagers were warned that each village must provide 90 youths, aged between 18 and 45, to the Arakan Army (AA). Additionally, anyone with connections to the Military Council or Rohingya armed groups must be handed over to the AA. If they fail to comply, the Arakan Army will continue conducting operations in the villages,” a resident reported.

The resident added, “Smaller villages are required to provide 30 youths, while larger villages must provide 90. These youths will be recruited by the Arakan Army (AA) to fight against the Military Council and Rohingya armed groups.”

On the same day, a well-known Rohingya teacher, Saya Ba Zaw, son of Malawi Eman Shorifa and a resident of Syin Daung village, was abducted by AA members while he was sleeping at home.

Rohingya people in Buthidaung are enduring severe conditions and face ongoing persecution from the Arakan Army (AA), which has maintained control over the entire Buthidaung area since March 17, 2024.
