The Arakan Army (AA) has been reported to have killed Rohingya individuals and set fire to villages in Buthidaung Township.
On April 4th, 2024, the AA allegedly shot dead three Rohingya men from the Aw Lan Pyint Rohingya village in Buthidaung Township, Arakan State, Myanmar. The victims were identified as Mohammad Holil (45 years old), Dil Mohammad (37 years old), and Kyaw Naing (25 years old), all residents of Aw Lan Pyint Rohingya village.
Sources suggest that the AA targeted Rohingya men suspected of having connections with other armed groups, particularly the Myanmar military, accusing them falsely of being informants.
Furthermore, on April 8th, 2024, at approximately 7 o’clock in the evening, four Rohingya villages in Buthidaung Township were reportedly burned to the ground. Myanmar military forces from nearby battalions allegedly fired heavy artillery, resulting in the complete destruction of Monnar, Rwa Ma, Farotta, Rong, and Washilla villages.
“The displaced villagers have fled to neighboring villages, facing dire shortages of food and other essentials,” stated one evacuated Rohingya.
