AA intentionally set fire to several Rohingya villages in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, Myanmar, on July 14, 2024, at approximately 5:37 PM.
The affected Rohingya villages are Gunah Hamlet, Hayin Hali Hamlet, Kiyur Fara Hamlet, Goinna Fara Hamlet, and Doliya Fara Hamlet in Shwe Zar Rohingya Village, Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, Myanmar.
AA had previously intimidated and compelled the Rohingya villagers, residents of Shwe Zar and its hamlets, to vacate the area a few days ago. Most villagers fled to neighboring villages due to the intense fighting between AA and the Myanmar military.
However, a few Rohingya villagers remained to protect their properties. When AA could not force all the villagers to leave, they began burning the villages on July 13 to drive the remaining residents out.
There are numerous reports that many Rohingya were shot dead, killed in large explosions and drone attacks, or sustained serious injuries. Additionally, many more were abducted by AA in Shwe Zar Rohingya Village, Maungdaw Township.
