On the morning of August 4, 2024, a second-year university student, Ansarul Islam, was deliberately shot and killed in Maung Ni village in Maungdaw Township.
Ansarul Islam, a resident of Maung Ni village, was walking along the main road when Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) intentionally targeted and shot him. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
According to a source, there was a heavy clash between the Arakan Army (AA) and the Myanmar military in Maung Ni village. Myanmar BGP, who were present alongside the military, shot Ansarul Islam multiple times as they were returning from the combat zone.
