A Rohingya youth was intentionally shot by the Arakan Army (AA) in Noyapara, Maungdaw Township, Arakan State of Myanmar, at around 1:20 PM on July 16, 2024.
The wounded youth has been identified as Mohammad Sabair, approximately 21 years old, and a resident of Horithulla Rohingya village in Maungdaw Township. He was shot by AA while heading towards the mosque for worship in Noyapara Rohingya village. The bullets hit several parts of his body, causing serious injuries.
Sabair and his fellow villagers had evacuated to Noyapara Rohingya village due to intense combat between AA and the Myanmar military in Horithulla Rohingya village. They sought refuge in Noyapara, hoping for safety.
Mohammad Sabair’s condition is critical, and urgent medical treatment is necessary. Efforts are being made to transport him to Bangladesh for the required medical care.
