The Myanmar Military Junta, widely recognized as a genocidal regime, has recently escalated its attacks on both the Rohingya community and the Arakan Army (AA) in northern Arakan State, Myanmar.

On February 25, 2025, a Rohingya man, 33-year-old Shobir Ahmed from Anuak Ye Rohingya village in Pauktaw Township, was injured in a shooting by the Myanmar Military. Shobir was targeted while transporting materials around Sittwe at approximately 9:00 PM. He sustained a gunshot wound to his left shoulder and is in urgent need of medical treatment. However, the medical assistance provided at an Arakan Army (AA) hospital has reportedly been insufficient, with claims of discrimination in treatment against the Rohingya community.

Just days later, on February 28, 2025, the Myanmar Military carried out deadly airstrikes on an area controlled by the Arakan Army (AA) in northern Maungdaw Township. The airstrikes targeted the police headquarters in Gyi Ken Pyin village, which had been under the control of the Arakan Army (AA) since May 2024. The attack resulted in the deaths of over 30 Rohingya detainees who had been abducted and held by the Arakan Army (AA) at the police headquarters. Around 10 other detainees, also Rohingya, sustained severe injuries. The airstrikes also killed and injured several Arakan Army (AA) members when two 500-pound bombs were dropped on the headquarters.

These attacks highlight the ongoing violence and discrimination faced by both the Rohingya community and the Arakan Army (AA) in the region, as the Myanmar Military continues its brutal campaign against those it views as opposition.
