Buthidaung, Arakan State β The Arakan Army (AA), a Rakhine militant group, has forcibly evicted Rohingya residents from their ancestral villages in northern Buthidaung Township, Arakan State, Myanmar.
On February 11, the AA ordered Rohingya inhabitants from Myint Nar, Zaydi Pyin, Dar Pyin Sa Yar, Maung Gyi Taung, Mee Zaung Zay, and Maung Nu Para villages to evacuate immediately and relocate to La Wet Dey Pyin Shey village.
A source from the affected villages stated, βThe AA summoned our village elders and threateningly ordered us to leave by 8:00 AM on February 11. They instructed us to move towards La Wet Dey Pyin Shey village.β
He further recounted, βWe were forcibly ordered to leave our homes and told to build temporary makeshift shelters in the paddy fields near La Wet Dey Pyin Shey. The AA warned us to remain there until they issue further relocation orders.β
The AA has justified the evictions under the pretext of conducting clearing operations, accusing the Rohingya villagers of alleged connections with Rohingya armed groups and the Military Junta.
As a result of these forced displacements, Rohingya families in Buthidaung are facing dire conditions, left homeless and struggling for survival. Their properties are reportedly being confiscated by local Rakhines and Hindus, including members of the AA.
The situation in northern Arakan continues to deteriorate, with Rohingya civilians bearing the brunt of systematic persecution and displacement.
