Maungdaw, Arakan State β The Arakan Army (AA) has forcibly ordered Rohingya families to vacate their homes in Shwe Zar village, Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, Myanmar. The militant group has attached eviction notices to 50 Rohingya-owned buildings, declaring that βNo one is allowed to live in these buildings.β
On February 10, AA officials, including senior officers and troops, summoned the Shwe Zar village administration team and personally locked approximately 50 Rohingya residential apartment buildings. The AA then posted eviction notices on the front doors and issued an order for 20 Rohingya families to leave their homes by 6:00 PM the same day. The affected families were advised to relocate to nearby houses.
A local resident, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated, βA person friendly with the AA asked one of their officers why we were not allowed to stay in our homes. The officer replied that, according to central orders from the AA/ULA, they could not grant permission for residence at this time.β
This forced eviction is part of a broader pattern of systematic persecution, displacement, and confiscation of Rohingya properties by the Arakan Army (AA). The continued targeting of Rohingya civilians in Maungdaw and Buthidaung highlights the worsening humanitarian crisis in Arakan State.
