BUTHIDAUNG, Arakan State — The Arakan Army (AA), an ethnic Rakhine armed group operating in Rakhine State, has reportedly begun dismantling several Rohingya villages in northern Buthidaung Township.

According to reports from the ground, Rohingya residential areas in Gyi Naut Thee East, Gyi Naut Thee North, and Gyi Naut Thee South—located within the Nga Yant Chaung village tract—have been systematically demolished by the AA.

Eyewitness accounts state that all residents from these villages were forcibly displaced and instructed to build temporary shelters in nearby paddy fields situated in the center of Gyi Naut Thee village. “Not a single home has been left standing,” said a source, who added that the villagers were ordered to evacuate entirely.

In addition to these incidents, two more Rohingya villages,, Mee Cahung Zay and Da Pyin Sayar were dismantled in March, following the forced displacement of their inhabitants.

A local source revealed that “many Rohingya mosques and religious institutions have also been destroyed,” adding that “approximately 30 Rohingya villages in Buthidaung have been dismantled and confiscated by the Arakan Army, displacing residents to areas such as Paungdaw Pyin in northern Buthidaung.”

The situation remains dire, with thousands of Rohingya now homeless, living in makeshift conditions amid rising tensions and ongoing conflict.
